چکیده

Aceh province, in the westernmost part of Indonesia, is one top contributors to country's elasmobranch fisheries. Here, we discuss some proposed interventions and their feasibility towards thresher shark fisheries South-west Aceh. Fisheries managers must focus more on poverty alleviation discover alternative livelihood options reduce dependence threatened sharks coastal communities. Thresher are oceanic occupying tropical temperate seas (Compagno, 1984). They easily recognized by long tail which used stun prey. This group comprises three species within family Alopiidae; common (Alopias vulpinus), bigeye supercilliosus) pelagic pelagicus) (Gruber & Compagno, 1981; highly migratory as such, populations especially susceptible exploitation, range overlaps with many under-reported unregulated gillnet longline (Rigby et al., 2019). The red muscle morphology of the thresher sharks (family Alopiidae).

A more medial and anterior position of the red aerobic myotomal muscle (RM) and the presence of a vascular counter-current heat exchange system provide the functional elements that facilitate regional RM endothermy in tunas, lamnid sharks and the common thresher shark (Alopias vulpinus). The convergent RM morphology among all species capable of RM endothermy suggests that RM position is a stron...

The complete mitochondrial genome of the big-eye thresher shark, Alopias superciliosus (Chondrichthyes, Alopiidae).

The complete mitochondrial genome of the big-eye thresher shark was sequenced using a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based method. The total length of mitochondrial DNA is 16,719 bp and includes 13 protein-coding genes, 2 ribosomal RNA, 22 transfer RNA genes, 1 replication origin region and 1 control region. The mitochondrial gene arrangement of the big-eye thresher shark is the same as the on...

High Connectivity of the Crocodile Shark between the Atlantic and Southwest Indian Oceans: Highlights for Conservation

Among the various shark species that are captured as bycatch in commercial fishing operations, the group of pelagic sharks is still one of the least studied and known. Within those, the crocodile shark, Pseudocarcharias kamoharai, a small-sized lamnid shark, is occasionally caught by longline vessels in certain regions of the tropical oceans worldwide. However, the population dynamics of this s...
